A long while back I “fixed” the 1975 Reggie Jackson card, which
Topps failed to have him as an all-star even though he started the
all-star game the previous year.
Take a look at the as-is issued card and my fix:
Does anyone know why or HOW Topps made this error?
I mean, the guy was one of THE stars of the game, was a year
removed from an MVP Award, and was coming off of THREE straight
championships in which he was the muscle for with the Oakland A’s.
Seems like Topps REALLY screwed up the all-stars that year since
they had Hank Aaron’s all-star designation on his record breaker card,
Bobby Murcer as an A.L. All-Star while airbrushed into a San Francisco
Giants uni, and this Reggie omission. Ugh…
Is there a chance that this was because of placement on printing sheets? Does anyone out there know?
Just one of those baseball-card questions that has bugged me for now over 40 years!
