NOT REALLY MISSING IN ACTION- 1973 HUGH YANCY

Today on the blog, yet another "not so missing" card for former Chicago White Sox infielder Hugh Yancy, who made his Big League debut in 1972, appearing in three games:

For Yancy, those three games would be (tied) for a career high, as he would appear in three, one (1974) and three games (1976) in his brief Major League career.
I also created "not so missing" cards for the other two seasons he appeared in the Majors, so this card today closes out his career as far as cardboard is concerned.
He appeared in three games for Chicago during the 1976 season, going 1-for-10 at the plate while playing some second base, the last action he'd have in a Big League uniform.
For Yancy and his career, as I mentioned earlier he saw three games in 1972 and just one game in 1974, giving him a career total of seven games played, with two hits over 19 at-bats for a .105 batting average.
He would go on to play in the Minor Leagues through the 1979 season but never make it back to a Major League game.

NOT REALLY MISSING IN ACTION- 1977 HUGH YANCY

Here’s a “not so missing” 1977 card for a guy who already played the last of his Major League games by the time this card would have come out, former Chicago White Sox infielder Hugh Yancy:

Yancy, who also got a “not so missing” 1975 card here on the blog a couple of years ago, appeared in three games for Chicago during the 1976 season, going 1-for-10 at the plate while playing some second base.
He also saw three games in 1972 and just one game in 1974, giving him a career total of seven games played, with two hits over 19 at-bats for a .105 batting average.
He would go on to play in the Minor Leagues through the 1979 season but never make it back to a Major League game.
I plan on closing out his baseball card resume with a “not so missing” 1973 slab in the near future. For the complete “collectors” out there, keep an eye out for it!

NOT REALLY MISSING IN ACTION- 1975 HUGH YANCY

Today I present to you a “not so missing” 1975 card for Hugh Yancy of the Chicago White Sox, who played in three different seasons yet for never more than three games in any one of them:

Yancy first got a taste of the big leagues in 1972 when he appeared in three games for Chicago, before spending the entire 1973 season in the Minors.
In 1974 he made it back to the big leagues, but for one single game with one plate appearance, a sacrifice for the “unofficial” at-bat.
His last taste of the Majors would be in 1976 when he appeared in another three games, collecting one hit in 10 at-bats to close out a career that was summed up by two hits over 19 at-bats in seven games.
He would toil in the Minors through the 1979 season for both the Cincinnati and Cleveland organizations, but sadly for him never again play in the Major Leagues.
