Today
we have a “not so missing” 1979 card for former Montreal Expos pitcher
Randy Miller, who already threw the last pitch of his MLB career during
the 1978 season:
Miller, who made his MLB debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 1977 when
he appeared in one game, giving up three earned runs over two-thirds of
an inning, came back the following year and appeared in five games for
Montreal, faring a touch better with an ERA of 10.29 with eight earned
runs over seven innings, finishing 0-1.
He would spend all of 1979 and 1980 in the Montreal system, even getting
a place on a multi-player rookie card in the 1980 Topps set, but never
make it back to a Big League mound again.
For his brief career, Miller finished 0-1 over six appearances, striking
out six and ending up with an ERA of 12.91 over 7.2 innings pitched.
