Ryan appears in 15 games for
Pittsburgh that season after six years with the Philadelphia Phillies,
the final games of his Big League career.
Over those 15 games he batted .100 with three hits over 30 at-bats while filling in behind the plate for Manny Sanguillen.
Ryan
originally spent the first four years of his career with the Boston Red
Sox, including their magical 1967 season when they went straight to the
World Series before losing to Bob Gibson and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Nevertheless,
over his eleven seasons Ryan batted .193, with 370 hits in 1920 at-bats
over 636 games for the three teams mentioned above: Boston,
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
