Here’s
a “not so missing” 1974 card for former infielder Jerry DaVanon, who
appeared in 41 games for the California Angels in 1973 after spending
all of 1972 in the Minors:
DaVanon made it back to the Big Leagues and hit .235 for the Angels in
1973 while playing three infield positions with a little DH-ing thrown
in.
Originally up in 1969 with the new San Diego Padres, he then played for
the St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles before spending all of
1972 playing in both the Baltimore and California Minor League systems.
1974 would see him back with the Cardinals before he moved on to the
Houston Astros for the 1975 and 1976 seasons, before having a third
stint with St. Louis in 1977, albeit only nine games, the last of his
MLB career.
All told, he finished up with a .234 career average over 262 games, with
117 hits in 499 at-bats, with 73 runs scored and 50 runs batted in over
 eight seasons.
