Today
I serve up a “not so missing” 1973 card for former infielder Jim
Driscoll, who appeared in 15 games, the last, of his brief two-season
career:
After coming up for his first taste of the Major Leagues in 1970 with
the Oakland A’s, Driscoll had to wait until the 1972 season to play on a
big league field once again, this time with the newly shifted franchise
of the Texas Rangers.
While playing both second and third base, he went 0-for-18 at the plate,
with a couple of walks, in what would be last of his 36 games as a
Major League player.
He’d stick around the Minor Leagues through the 1975 season, splitting time with both the Houston and Cincinnati organizations.
However he’d call it a pro career at the age of 31, leaving the game
with a .143 career average along with 10 hits over 70 at-bats. All ten
coming his rookie year.
