Today’s
“missing” player is former Houston Astros infielder Ray Busse, who
could have gotten a card in the 1974 Topps set. Take a look at the card I
came up with:
Busse appeared in 39 games during the 1973 season, split between the St.
Louis Cardinals and Astros, and hit a combined .126 with 11 hits in 87
at-bats.
That would end up being the most action he’d see in any of his three
Major League seasons, which would end after the 1974 season after only
appearing in 19 games, hitting .209 with seven hits in 34 at-bats.
Overall he would hit .148 over the 68 games played in the big leagues,
with 23 hits over 155 at-bats while playing both third base and
shortstop for both St. Louis and Houston.
